Frequently asked questions

Where is the app? I do not see a window.

Internet Monitor lives in your menu bar, at the top right of the screen. Look for the ring icon: green means your connection is healthy, yellow degraded, red down. Click it for live details, the dashboard, and settings.

How do I export the report for my internet provider?

Open the ring menu and choose Dashboard, then click Export ISP Report in the toolbar and pick the last 7 or 30 days. You get a PDF with every outage timestamped, daily uptime and latency, ready to attach to a support ticket.

Too many notifications?

In Settings you can raise the minimum outage duration that triggers an alert, change the sound, or turn notifications off. During very unstable periods the app automatically collapses repeated alerts into a single "unstable connection" notice.

Does the app slow down my Mac or use my battery?

The checks are tiny (a connection handshake every couple of seconds). On battery power the app automatically slows to one check every 10 seconds; you can change this in Settings.

Where is my data stored?

Everything is stored locally on your Mac as plain files, inside the app's sandboxed container. Nothing is uploaded. See the privacy policy.

Can my AI assistant read my connection data?

Yes. The easiest way: see the one-page setup guide: a one-click extension for Claude Desktop, and the path for ChatGPT or any other MCP client. Ask things like "how was my internet this week?": it reads your local data only, works with the app closed, and sends nothing anywhere.

How do I quit or uninstall?

Click the ring icon and choose Quit Internet Monitor. To uninstall, delete the app from your Applications folder; that also removes its data.
